What about my HOA?
Most HOAs allow dumpsters on your driveway for up to 10 days. We recommend notifying them in advance. If you need a street permit, text or call us and we'll point you in the right direction.
If you live in a Homeowners Association (HOA) community, the good news is most HOAs are fine with a dumpster on your private driveway for up to 10 days — which is exactly how long Tapdump rentals run.
HOA-friendly dumpster placement:
- Your driveway: Almost always allowed for 7–10 days (check your HOA rules)
- Your side yard: Sometimes allowed, ask your HOA first
- Street or common area: Usually not allowed without a permit
What to do:
1. Check your HOA document (most have a section on temporary structures or dumpsters)
2. Notify your HOA in writing (email is fine) before delivery
3. Mention it will be gone in 7 days (or whenever you schedule pickup)
If your HOA says no:
Some HOAs are strict about driveway dumpsters. In that case:
- Check if a street permit is available (city/county can grant permission over HOA objection in some areas)
- Ask your HOA about exceptions for renovations or bulk cleanup
- Consider renting a smaller dumpster or scheduling pickup faster (within 3–4 days)
